What might cause an irregular heart beat?

0

People can have many reasons for irregular heart rhythms, and some are minor. However, you would not be unwise to visit a doctor and get an EKG (electrocardiogram) done to rule out some of the not so benign reasons. At your age, atherosclerotic disease, and atrial fibrillation would be unlikely. However, there are some inborn irregularities of heart beats that can be very serious if left untreated (like Wolf-Parkinson-White syndrome). I doubt it’s bad in your case, since you don’t seem to have any bad symptoms other than occasional chest discomfort, but it doesn’t hurt to be safe. Also, you are overweight for your height (unless you are a weightlifter, wrestler or linebacker) so you are at risk for other problems. Get a physicial and have a doc check you over.
