What must an organization do in order to certify and award AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™?
In order to certify activities for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and award credit to physicians that complete the certified activities the organization must: • Plan and implement educational activities that meet all of the AMA PRA core requirements and the format-specific requirements for the chosen AMA approved learning format. For information on these requirements refer to the AMA PRA informational booklet at www.ama-assn.org/go/prabooklet; and • Be a U.S. based organization that is accredited by either the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) or an ACCME-recognized state medical society (SMS). An accredited CME provider must follow all of the requirements of both the AMA and its accreditor (ACCME or SMS) in order to certify a CME activity for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
