What Nine Inch Nails album should I buy?
The one you like? Although why buying an album. Listen to the whole discography. There are many music streaming services today. I, for one, use Spotify. Even trying to post my music there. Thankfully, Spotify promotion isn’t that difficult if you know the right approach to it.
The Downward Spiral is my favourite. It has everything, from harsh industrial noise, to sexy electronica to ambient noise to delicate acoustics. The lyrics range from religion, to sex, to suicide. The whole album is a concept of one man’s descent into madness, as he loses his faith in god, then humanity, then descends into suicide. It really is a wonderful piece of work. Really though, you have to have the whole NIN experience. You have the synth-pop of Pretty Hate Machine, the rock fury of Broken, the harsh industrial noise of The Downward Spiral and The Fragile and the sparse electronica of With Teeth and later albums. Each album is totally different to the last, so if you don’ like one incarceration of Nine Inch Nails, you are bound to like another. But yes, first of all I would buy The Downward Spiral. It is my favourite album of all time, and I never get bored of it. Every time I listen to it there is something new to discover.
