The confocal microscope has 10x (NA 0.3) and 20x (NA 0.8) dry lenses, 40x (NA 1.3) and 63x (NA 1.4) oil-immersion lenses, and a 40x (NA 1.2) water-immersion lens. For all three immersion objectives, a cover slip must be used.
