What operating systems and applications does MBSA scan?
MBSA 2.1 scans for administrative vulnerabilities as well as missing security updates for a variety of Microsoft products. Scanning for administrative vulnerabilities is supported for Windows 2000; Windows XP; Windows Server 2003; Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0, 5.1, and 6.0; Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5, and 6.0 (including Internet Explorer 6.0 for Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer 6.0 for Windows Server 2003); Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005; and Microsoft Office 2000, Office XP, and Office 2003. Scanning for security updates is based on the Microsoft Update catalog. To view the products that MBSA 2.1 can check for missing security updates, refer to the Products Supported by WSUS page. The list of products will change over time as new detection logic is published through Microsoft Update.
