Depending on the size of your Goldfish and if you hope to keep them into adulthood, then your tank may already be fully stocked as a Fantail Goldfish can easily reach between 8 and 10 inches when fully grown. I have a Red Veil tail which is now at five years old, 8 inches long not including it’s 10 inch long tail. However whatever you put in the tank with your Fantails, you need to bear a few things in mind. Tropicals and cold water do not mix well. Do not put Mollies in with them as someone suggested! There are a couple of species which can be added which are mistakenly sold as Tropical fish, simply because they can live in warmer water. White cloud Mountain Minnows can be kept with them but need to be kept in a shoal of 10 or more to be happy. Likewise, Rosy red minnows can be kept with them but need to be in groups of five or more. Any small fish you keep, will need to be of a size that the fantails will not be able to swallow as they will attempt to if they can fit them in their mo
