Oz seems to be popular with comic book writers. Baum himself wrote one of the earliest newspapers comics, “Queer Visitors from the Marvelous Land of Oz” (see question 6.8) and his collaborator, W. W. Denslow, issued a competing comic, “Denslow’s Scarecrow and Tinman” (see question 7.4).
