What parameters does an optimal oxygen supply for an (aerobic) bacteria culture depend on?
Optimal aeration is dependent on • the viscosity of the medium, • the temperature • the shape of the bottles, Eppendorf LidBac tubes or Erlenmeyer flasks, • the fill level of the tubes, • the radius of the orbital movement of the shaker and • the shaker speed. There is an interesting publication on this subject from David Freedman, The shaker in bioengineering (Process Biochemistry, March 1969).
