I have a Philips settop player which uses some of the same internals as this one and I know it to be a very good player. This portable is a bit pricey, though, but it has been considered the best in all the reviews I've seen for the past few months. Here are the top 6 from a fairly recent review: 1) Sony DVP-FX701 This portable DVD player comes with a nice 7” screen encased in an aluminum panel design. It offers up a nice 16:9 aspect ratio, 96 kHz / 24-bit digital to analog sound conversion and has a three hour playback on a rechargeable battery. The DVP-FX701 is nice for car trips, with an included DC car charger and headphone Y splitter so two people can listen at the same time. It also sports mini-pin A/V inputs, so camcorder movies can be viewed when the two devices are hooked together via a cable.
