A – We perform both the Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Roux-En-Y and the Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding (LapBand) procedures. Q – How do I know if I qualify for weight loss surgery? A – You must: • have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or greater, for at least 5 years, • have a BMI of 35 to 39, with significant medical complications of obesity (high blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes mellitus, osteoarthritis, gastroesophageal reflux/ heartburn, etc.) • be between the ages of 21 and 65.
