What progress has Greenwich London Borough Council made in the last year?
The Council has a track record of improvement in its priority services. Sixty per cent of core performance indicators have improved since 2002/03. Education and Social Care continue to make progress. However, Housing is improving, but not at the same pace, and has a mixed picture of performance. The Council is making an effective contribution to the wider social agenda of crime reduction, regeneration, social inclusion and neighbourhood renewal, and engagement with partners and communities is strong. There is a clear commitment towards improved services for diverse communities. The council’s modernisation programme is driving internal cultural change and supporting continued improvement. An effective comprehensive spending review and procurement strategy have helped improve value for money and deliver significant savings.
