What qualifies a project as multidisciplinary?

0

The project must merge disciplines in such a way that the project would fail if one of the disciplines withdrew. Simply involving faculty from different departments is not enough. For example, a biology proposal using an engineer as a consultant would not qualify, but a bioengineering proposal requiring major participation and input from both biologists and engineers in order to go forward would qualify as multidisciplinary. Its probably clearer to use the word “interdisciplinary” – the disciplines need to changed by each other, not merely working side by side together.
