What questions might Joseph McCarthy might have asked someone testifying?
“When did you join the communist party?” “Who recruited you to the communist party?” “Who do you report to in the communist party?” It’s not so much the questions as how quickly they are fired at the person(McCarthy would never allow a person to answer in full, interupting them and when he could twisting the answer), haranguing the person, and resorting to deceits like waving pieces of paper around, claiming they are affadavits from other people about the person’s communist background, etc). The goal was to frustrate and anger the person being questioned into making a statement that could be construed as guilt, or to make them look guilty period.
