Don’t panic. The CAB is a wonderful atmosphere and one which I have been involved with for many years. This interview will not be like going for a paid position. You may be asked if you have IT skills, as you will need a little knowledge for the case recording systems and benefit calculation programmes, not to mention the extensive information site. You may have a minimum commitment requirement, such as one full day and to attend workers meetings at least four times a year. You need to be able to demonstrate that you can work in an impartial and non judgemental way and be able to empathise with your clients and keep to strict confidentiality protocol. You will be working closely with qualified generalist staff and session supervisers, who will make you feel very welcome and special.
