What reasons can make gambling to be illegal?

the last answer is funny bc technically society's 'moral values' are the basis of all laws--e.g., thou shalt not kill, steal etc. these values are all encoded in are laws OK reasons: so we want to legislate it bc it presents problems to society. One purpose of laws is to protect society. 1-Psychological: As defined by American Psychiatric Association, pathological gambling is an impulse control disorder that is a chronic and progressive mental illness. 2-Biological: According to the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery Recent evidence indicates that pathological gambling is an addiction similar to chemical addiction. 3-Relation to other problems: As debts build up people turn to other sources of money such as theft, or the sale of drugs.  more
