What resolution and aspect ratio are the videos rendered in?
This depends on whether the “High Resolution” videos are installed. The default is a VCD resolution (352×240, MPEG-1 compression). The “High Resolution” is a VGA resolution (640×480, XviD compression). All the videos are encoded at the standard ratio of 4:3. There are no plans to encode our videos to a widescreen ratio (16:9). Widescreen displays can be set to one of three states to compensate: Standard/Normal (4:3 displays on 75% of the screen with black bars on each side), Zoom (4:3 display is cropped at the top and the bottom), and Stretch (4:3 is stretched to fit 16:9, making things appear wider).
