What rights do I have as an employer with regards to staff taking sick days?

The first 7 days of sickness is self-certificated And up to you as the employer as to whether you want to provide sick pay. After 7 days, your employee should get a “Sick Note” from the Doctor. I work for Asda, and for the first 3 days of sickness, it goes unpaid. After that we get £50 a week sick pay. The number of sick days we have, affects our annual bonus. We are also “friends” with our manager’s on Facebook. And alot of colleagues have been caught saying they were hungover and phoned in sick, and have had a disciplinary for it. Add her as a friend on Facebook, see where is gets you. Have a nose at the link below, hopefully they will be able to give you a better insight into what you can be doing. You could always ask other small employers in your area what they do.

What is your question?
