John Deere has a product called GreenStar AutoTrac which is installed on a tractor or combine to automatically steer using GPS technology. It enables the farmer to plant in perfectly straight rows and harvest at maximum efficiency. There are two types, one uses a subscription-based model and triangulates the units position between land-based towers and satellites and the other, less accurate model uses free satellites for position. The extremely accurate subscription model will turn the machine around at the end of each row. The other one will steer through the field, but the operator must turn it around at the end. My husband purchased the less-accurate model last year and I resisted using it.
