What role does mentoring play within Continuous Professional Development and the Irish Society of Homeopaths?
Mentoring has been chosen as the best way of supporting graduates with self-directed development. A cornerstone of professionalism is to never let up on developing oneself further as a homeopath, reflecting on one’s practice, learning and developing, increasing and upgrading and updating one’s skill and knowledge, applying new knowledge to the practice of homeopathy and adhering to the Core Criteria by which the Irish Society of Homeopaths measure good practice and safeguard the health, safety and integrity of the public and their Registered Homeopathic Practitioners. The mentor is a role-model and sets an example of how to adhere to and fulfil the Core Criteria of the Irish Society, which are a necessity in order to register with this professional body, once having been licensed to practice. The mentor represents to the mentoree homeopath, the ideals of a) both homeopathy and b) professionalism within the context of homeopathy and health-care professions in general.
