What Services are currently available on KnutShell?
Currently, KnutShell offers search interfaces for the following underlying databases: OMIM(tm) (Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man). This is a publicly-available electronic catalogue of inherited diseases and disorders administered by the National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health (USA). KnutShell was originally designed so that Clinical Geneticists, or other qualified medical personnel, could access OMIM information efficiently during the limited time of a clinical encounter. The project goal was to improve information retrieval during the clinical diagnosis and decision-making process while making Clinical Genetics practice more efficient. KnutShell’s “OMIM search” service provides an alternative search interface to the OMIM database.
