What sewing machine brand is best?
I have been sewing for 38 years, 27 years of which, I have been self employed using my sewing talents making everything from wedding gowns to bathing suits and bedding to window treatments. I sew sometimes eight hours straight. I swear by Elna and Pfaff sewing machines. In my opinion they are the best for quality and they need very little maintenance. If you oil your machine according to the manual instructions, it will last a very long time. I bought a Brother machine that was middle of the line in price and it operated so poorly, I returned it two days later. I buy my machines from a local dealer because I wanted to cultivate a relationship with them in the event any of my machines needed maintenance. Call your local sewing machine repair shop and see if they will service the machine of your choice. Machines can get damaged in shipping, so if you are going to purchase a machine through the mail, please take precautions. In order to be certain the machine worked the day it was shipped
