The surviving spouse should take the Travellers Cheques and the death certificate to their bank and instruct the bank to call an American Express Travellers Cheque Customer Service Centre for further instructions. The beneficiary can call the Customer Service Centre for advice. As another option, the cheques (marked void) may be sent to American Express along with a copy of the Death Certificate, Estate Papers or other applicable legal papers. Processing fees may apply.
