What should I do if I receive a suspicious e-mail, purporting to come from World Vision, asking for confidential financial information?
World Vision, like many other charitable agencies, has been the subject of recent fraudulent attempts to obtain bank details of partners, supporters and unconnected parties. The common theme is an e-mail communication, purporting to come from World Vision, informing the recipient that he/she has been awarded a substantial cash grant. The recipient is invited to register details with the sender in order to collect the cash sum. World Vision does not make cash awards of this nature, and this communication is bogus. If you receive such an e-mail, please, under no circumstances register your details with the sender — instead, either delete the e-mail or forward it, in its entirety (including header information) to emailinfo@worldvision.org. We will do all we can to notify the appropriate authorities and follow up to try and identify the perpetrators, but unfortunately we cannot prevent such communications from being circulated.
