What size skateboard wheels should i get?
With wheels there are pros and cons to different sizes. The way it breaks down is this: Big Wheels: Roll MUCH faster and put the board higher off the ground so that when you hit your tail, the board is at a steeper angle – this CAN contribute to higher ollies . . . maybe. Howver, it takes more urethane to make taller wheels, so they’re heavier than smaller wheels (cored wheels can offset this a little). Small Wheels: Barely roll, wear down faster (because there’s less urethane there to begin with) and look stupid. But they’re light. That lightness, combined with a smaller overall board height, will probably make a board easier to spin in a kickflip/heelflip scenario – just like a narrower board will. For my money, a good 58mm with a core works very nicely. But I used to ride 66mm wheels way back in the old days, so you might want to go with a 56 or something a little bit smaller.
