What skills do Connexions PAs have?
The personal adviser (PA) is to be able to develop a meaningful relationship with the young person, based on trust and respect. This enables them to relate positively to the PA, provide all that is needed for a comprehensive needs assessment, and be more responsive to the advice and guidance they receive. It is by developing this partnership approach, that the young person can better understand what is required of them and the PA and ensures they identify how best their needs can be met. This approach is more likely to succeed in their re-engagement in education and training. By offering effective support the PA is able to respond to the child and young persons needs whether it is personal, educational or work related. The PA provides a constant link between the child and young person and the wide range of organisations that they may come into contact with.
