What Social Services are available in CLT?

If I needed to help someone tonite, I would suggest the Salvation Army and Catholic Services for starters. They may not be able to help, but they may be able to suggest other resources. I tend to always turn to churches when there is an emergency. As for medical, yes, federal law mandates that anyone presenting at an Emergency Dept must be treated, regardless of ability to pay, and regardless of citizenry/ status. Medicaid is a program one must be enrolled for and one must qualify for under the guidelines. There are medical social workers at hospitals who can guide a person to what resources are available to assist them w/ their healthcare needs. Then there is the traditional subsistence program . . . but that involves red tape and time to get enrolled (as you know) . . . so not a solution for immediate help.
