All software decoders will downmix a Dolby Digital 5.1 track to a 2 channel PCM audio track. WinDVD and PowerDVD will also pass a Dolby Digital signal through the SPDIF digital output that is included on some of the newer sound cards to an audio reciever that is equipped with a Dolby Digital audio decoder.
