DaveH1960 replies: On Christmas day in the trenches near Ypres the German troops began decorating their trench with candles etc. They then began singing Christmas carols in German. The Scottish troops in the British trnches responded with Christmas carols in English. Eventually the troops met in No Mans Land, exchanged gifts and recited the 23rd Psalm.
