What sort of roles can graduates go into at MI5?
Most graduates tend to join us as intelligence officers and during their career are likely to carry out a range of postings. These could include assessing and investigating threats to national security, policy and strategic work, finance and resource management and training and development. Dependent on the business requirements, most staff move departments every 18 months to three years to gain insight and a breadth of experience. Once you’ve gained experience you could also take on an operational role recruiting and running agents or managing specialist surveillance or eavesdropping operations. As an intelligence officer you would be working as part of a team but you’d have individual responsibilities and objectives. Graduates also join us as part of our language unit.
