What sort of stereotypes do foreigners hold about the British?

I know of a few, not that I personally hold them against anyone who is British.

Well…I’m sure some of these are really old and probably seem ridiculous to you. But I’ll tell you some of the stereotypes that we have about you in the United States… – You drink a lot of tea and that you even have a “tea time” at a certain time of day, that’s almost like lunch (everyone seems to think that) – You have a very stilted, “proper” vocabulary and use phrases like “How smashing!” – You have a very dry, sarcastic humor (I actually like dry British humor!) – You’re very pale, because of the cold, mostly overcast climate – And the way you speak English sounds very choppy and broken to us…like you skip syllables. I remember one time they were interviewing a British guy on a tv program, and he was speaking with such a thick accent and in such broken English that they put subtitles on the screen!! LOL – You use slang that doesn’t make any sense to us…things like “bloke” and “trite.” – Some other words or terms apparently don’t mean the same thing in the United States and i

~extremely polite ~drink allot of tea ~eat scones and fish and chips ~well-mannered ~quiet posh ~rigid and uptight ~their society focuses a great deal on one’s class These are just stereotypes and I don’t necessarily believe them because each individual is different.
