What sounds do opossums make?
Opossums make few sounds. You may hear a choo choo or a sneezing sound. These are sounds made by the young when separated from the mother. The mother will make clicking sounds with her tongue in response to the calls made by the young. Also, male opossums will make the same clicking sound primarily during mating season. In addition, when an opossum is threatened it can make some low growling or hissing sounds. Sometimes you may a lot of growling and hissing and see one opossum is biting another or on top of another. They are probably not fighting. They may be mating.
