• Although unlikely to occur, in the event of contamination, a company would be required to take immediate action to clean up the contamination in accordance with current regulations and guidelines under the Water Act and the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act. • Approvals authorized under the Water Act generally have conditions that require the licensee or approval holder to investigate and report back to Alberta Environment and ERCB if there is a complaint about their project. If their activities are found to be the cause of the problem, the licensee or the approval holder will have to undertake remediation.
