He was interested in developing technology for people who are hard of hearing. His family lost everything when they were forced to move when their town was by passed by the new railroad. He was forced to help support the family and discovered he was very good at it. He is the kind of person who was always able to turn unfortunate circumstances into a way to excel. Life kept giving him lemons and he kept making lemonade.
