What Symptoms Are Common For A Normal Wisdom Tooth?

It is not very common to have the symptoms you describe from an upper wisdom tooth coming in. My best guess is that you may have a lower wisdom tooth that may be the problem. You also could be getting strep throat. See a dentist and have them take a panoramic x-ray if you want to rule out the wisdom tooth.

All four of my wisdom teeth came in (not necessarily at the same time) and when they did, my gums were always extremely sore. However, I did not have a stiff jaw and I don’t remember having any pain swallowing. Perhaps you should visit your dentist to make sure they are coming in straight. You might also want to reconsider oral surgery. A lot of dentists recommend to have the wisdom teeth removed even if they are coming in straight. This is because the teeth are so far in the back of your mouth that 1) you don’t really need them and 2) they are really hard to take care of and oftentimes develop cavities. When my dentist first told me to have them removed, I disagreed. About two years later I developed cavities on two of them and decided to get them removed. Don’t worry – since yours are coming in, the surgery will be a lot easier than for those people who have impacted wisdom teeth. Good luck!
