What tactic did Colonel George Crook use against the Apaches?
GEN Crook was a believer in communication with the nations he fought with. When he operated in California in the 1850’s he met with and communicated with the Klamaths, Hoopa, or Modocs. When transferred to the southwest terroritories (Arizona, New Mexico) he ALWAYs had Apache or Commanche Scouts. This policy conflicted with many US Army officers and Crook crossed swords with them constantly, especially in Washington DC. Crook was HIGHLY RESPECTED by the enemy he fought.
