What texture does igneous rock have?
Igneous rocks can have various textures depending on the size of mineral crystals. Aphanetic texture means that the rock is composed of crystals too small to see without a magnifying glass (less than 1mm). Phaneritic texture has coarse grains (crystals are 1-10mm); pegmatic texture has very coarse grains ( crystals are greater than 1 cm). Porphyritic texture means the igneous rock has two distinct sizes of crystals. In some cases, igneous rocks don’t have any crystals at all because of poor nucleation (formation of crystals); they have a glassy texture.
