What the heck is a nanovor?

Nanovor are tiny, ancient creatures that inhabit computer chips and other things made of silicon. They went dormant when Earth’s atmosphere became oxygen-based, but when we started making computer chips and running currents through them, it brought them out of dormancy. I discovered them while studying dust mites for school, and invented a way to communicate with them and deploy them in battle, creating an underground sport at my school in the process.
