The 5.56 NATO barrels have a 1/2 x 28 TPI thread, the 6.8 SPC and 7.62x39mm barrels have a 5/8×24 TPI thread. Most M-16 muzzle devices will work on the 5.56 NATO barrels. Most .308 muzzle devices will work on the 6.8 and 7.62x39mm barrels.
