What toys do 2 year olds play with ?
At 2 they should be developing fine motor skills which means toys such as lacing and beading (look into Lauri products that use foam pieces with the occasional plastic pegs), simple peg and shape puzzles which fit into specific slots. Latch puzzles by Melissa and Doug are great. Dolls or soft toys that offer buckles, latches, etc. are good too. Simple construction toys such as Bristle Blocks, Dado Cubes, and basic building blocks will introduce them to fitting pieces together (and they develop their own games). Ride ons such as hop balls and Rody’s teaches them balance. There are a ton of wooden musical instruments by Plan Toys that are wonderful to listen to (wooden tongue drums and xylophones) without making you want to throw them out the window!
