What type of anesthesia is used for ultrasonic liposuction?
The same types of anesthesia can be used for either traditional or Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction. Dr. O’Connell prefers to perform all types of liposuction with a modified “tumescent” technique which does not require general, spinal or epidural anesthesia. For your safety, monitored anesthesia care is provided in most instances by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist. This is sometimes referred to as “twilight” anesthesia.
