What type of clothing should be avoided in India?
Western women should wear conservative (i.e., not revealing) clothing unless they want to get felt in crowded places or bumped into accidentally on the street. They may get propositioned in situations when they thought they were just having a chat. (Physical attacks, however, are very rare). Being with a male Indian friend is a sure way of avoiding such unpleasantness. Women should note that in non-tourist areas, clothing that isnt conservative (e.g., very short skirts) would attract a crowd of spectators.
