What type of platform(s) does VxInsight run on?
VxInsight currently runs on both NT-based PCs and on low-end SGI 02 desktop workstations. • What kinds of databases does it run on? VxInsight works with SQL-based relational databases. The largest database it has run on contains 2.3 million papers from the 1981-94 physical science database. It has been designed to handle very large databases with millions of elements. We see potential applications with any database system with either a one-to-one or one-to-many relationship. These may include patent databases, financial transactions, genome sequences, competitive analysis, product marketing, medical research and newsfeeds. • How does VxInsight compare to other visualization and mining tools? Our system, unlike others, uses the defined structure found in relational data to determine a location for each data object on a landscape for visualization. This landscape can be viewed at various levels of detail to provide an analyst with a thorough examination of the data allowing the greatest
