What type of powder does Winchester use?
Olin, parent company owning the Winchester name, uses their own powder to load their own ammunition. Type of powder is dependent on what type of cartridge is being loaded. They do not use commercially available powder, the kind reloaders use. They order and make powder in bulk. They then do a burn rate on the bulk powder and calculate how much to use depending on cartridge type, velocity wanted and bullet weight used.
