Both styles of tent are safe on a normal windy day. On gusty, windy days however, we feel the frame tents are safer, especially if anchored with a ratchet system as opposed to ropes. Ropes loosen off in the wind and can cause a pole to fall. Ratchets are locked and can only loosen off if someone unlocks them.
