What types of doctors can prescribe Adderall?
When my son was in 2nd grade, he was first on Ridilan and then Adderall. They were both prescribed by his pediatrician. For an adult to get on a drug like adderall, they have one that is stimulant free, I forget what it is called but that is generally prescribed by either your PCP or a Psychiatrist, they can write all sorts of anti-depressant drugs and other psychotropic drugs. (drugs that alter the brain’s chemistry). If your PCP won’t write it, then you may have to get a referral to a psychiatrist depending on your insurance plan. Many family doctor’s (Primary Care Physicians) won’t write for these types of drugs because it is out of their area of expertise.
