What breeds of dogs like water the most?

I think all kinds of dogs drink water. It is all individually, like a person. Some people drink more water, others less. I think the same way dogs. It all depends on the needs.

Each dog is their own person, per say. Although there are stereotypes, there are no breed standards except for appearance. Energy levels, preferences for toys, water, affection, and treats all varies dramatically. On a whole though, retrievers, all things with water in their name (i.e. Portuguese Water Dog)  and anything that has an Oodle in it’s name (i.e.poodle, labradoodle, golden doodle), and pitbulls. Australian Shepherds (Aussies) are pretty prone to water-play too! Its been my experience from the 1000’s of dogs I’ve cared for over the years that a love of water is found most often in large (60-80lbs) and medium/large dogs (30-50lbs) dogs, and rarely in giant breeds (90+lbs) and toy/small breeds (<25 lbs). When you are adopting a dog you can always ask the rescue/foster parents and some will even get a hose and give it a try if you ask! If you are getting a puppy, I recommend observing how they treat the water bowl when they are excited.
