What types of housing resources are being developed in Santa Monica?
City resources are devoted to developing a range of permanent and supportive housing. Permanent supportive housing, not more shelter beds, will end an individuals experience of homelessness. Permanent supportive housing is cost-effective. Studies show that the net public cost of providing permanent supportive housing for homeless people with mental illness and/or addiction is about the same or less than the cost remaining homeless.
