What types of personality and intelligence differences in men and women are caused by the different brain structures?
First of all, we see a much greater variation in intelligence and personality between individual people than between the genders. In fact, there are far more similarities than differences between the male and female brain. However, scientific research has revealed slight differences in the way that men and women think and process information. For example, men have, in general, more gray matter (neurons involved in perception, emotions and memory) and women have more white matter (involved in communicating between different regions of the brain). This doesn’t affect the ability to solve a problem so much as how the person goes about solving the problem. An intriguing implication of this insight is that we now know that problem-solving teams should contain both men and women.
