What Types Of Waterfalls Are There?

There are various ways to categorize or classify waterfalls. The two that I’m aware of have to do with identifying a waterfall’s shape and determining the volume of water present in the waterfall itself. The shape-based method results in categories like plunge, horsetail, fan, punchbowl, segmented, tiered, cascade, block, etc. Meanwhile, the volume-based method results in a logarithmic scale (like the Richter scale for earthquakes) resulting in Classes 1-10 developed by Richard H. Beisel, Jr. I wrote an article that discusses these classifications, which you can read here.
