What usually happens to the monkeys once they have been rescued?
When the monkeys arrive at the sanctuary they are placed in quarantine for 30 days. After this, and presuming everything is satisfactory, they are carefully introduced to the appropriate resident troop. The monkeys are then cared for and given any appropriate medical treatment they need to get back to being fit and healthy. The eventual aim of the sanctuary is to release the monkeys back into the wild. The next batch of monkeys will be released at the end of 2009. Before they are released radio collars will be attached to several of the monkeys so the progress of the troops can be monitored and the monkeys protected as much as possible. Being able to track the monkeys also means we can continue to give updates on their progress as they begin their new exciting life of freedom.
